How does the electroless silver plating process work?

Our home silver plating process is a very simple 3 step process that involves preping your item, plating your item, and polishing your item and can be done in a matter of minutes. Here is how easy it is:

    1. Prep: Prepare your item by removing the lacquer finish or if there is no lacquer finish, cleansing the item with either the jewelry cleaner dipper basket or the Tarnish Treatment. Rinse with water and dry.
    2. Plate: Pour a small amount of the Liquid Silver Plating Solution on the applicator sponge included with your purchase and apply friction to the item to be plated. Plating will begin to occur in seconds. Continue to add more silver as needed until finished with the item to be plated. Rinse with water and dry.
    3. Polish: Now your item is plated and it’s time to polish the new finish to bring out the true shine and protect the new finish. Apply the polish solution onto the white cloth provided in your purchase and buff onto the silver plate.

That’s it, you’re done! A beautiful new pure silver finish applied to your item. We highly recommend purchasing our Tarnish Defender as well if you haven’t already done so and apply over your new silver finish to preserve the new finish for up to 12 months.
